Specification Account Manager Job

Acuity Brands, North America’s leading manufacturer of lighting and lighting control products, has an opening in our GTA office.  We are currently looking for a Specification Account Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible getting Acuity Brands products and solutions specified and sold within the Toronto and area marketplace.    

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in growing specification sales in the electrical industry.  You are proactive and capable of working well in a team or independently.  The position requires excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and time management skills.  You are technically competent, able to learn, have good computer skills, and have been consistently recognized as a winner for your accomplishments. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for significantly increasing business within assigned Architects, Engineers, Lighting Designers, and Owners.

The position is based out of our Markham head office. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • University or College graduate
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Late model vehicle
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience calling on consultants
  • Lighting and lighting controls experience will be preferred

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides training [product, related technologies, and sale�s strategies] to agency personnel to stimulate sales.
  • Participates with agency personnel in joint sales calls on architects, engineers, and owners to secure product specifications for the stimulation of sales.
  • Participates with agency personnel in joint sales calls on owners, contractors, and distributors to close sales.
  • Negotiates product pricing to increase ABL sales revenue and to maximize ABL profit.
  • Coordinates external sales efforts with customer service, engineering, and marketing to maintain effective communication with each and timely service to agencies and their customers.
  • Promotes products -- features, functions, and benefits -- at trade shows and other industry-related meetings to stimulate sales.
  • Develops sales training and product presentation tools to equip agency personnel to increase sales.
