About this Opportunity

Acuity Brands has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager.  You will act as strategic and tactical Human Resources partner to the designated Business Unit(s) by being fully engaged in the day to day operations of the business. Provides HR assistance, counsel, advice and operates as a strategic thought partner to the Business Unit Leader and the Business Leader's team to achieve the Business's goals and objectives.

How you will contribute:

  • Define and drive organizational culture. Play a key leadership role in driving a substantial cultural transformation.  Facilitate metrics and organizational communication strategy to drive culture.
  • Manage relationships and processes with labor union(s) including problem solving, investigations, grievance processing and collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Interact and communicate with associated operating departments as necessary to produce cohesive efforts towards accomplishing Company goals.
  • Provide HR consulting services to employees and managers in all areas of Human Resources. Act as thought partner to business unit leader(s), and coach to supervisors.
  • Recruit to staff open positions by working through the company Talent Acquisition Group, Implement recruiting/interviewing processes and standard work within Business Unit.
  • Track HR metrics to identify areas for improvement. Develop and implement countermeasures to correct identified misses to goals.
  • Direct the interpretation and application of established HR standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain data for employment related changes, including hiring, termination, pay, position and supervisor changes.
  • Collaborate with managers in assessing org structure, development and succession planning.

Qualified applicants will have:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5-7 years plus the education listed below-experience in manufacturing or distribution environment required 
  • Experience managing relationships and processes with Labor Unions
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
  • Results oriented & continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience in a lean environment, including driving KPI's.
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and execute on stimulating projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications, and the ability to adapt the communication to the audience and positively influence others.
  • Functional computer skills such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Visio
  • Travel potential up to 15% (currently restricted due to Covid)
