Key Tasks & Responsibilities

 

The Plant Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for effective management and execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of production machinery and facility support equipment and responsible for the direct supervision of hourly Maintenance Department staff and coordination of all contracted vendors.

 

  • Maintain production machinery and facility equipment in a high operational readiness condition. This is achieved by effectively managing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure level of knowledge, skills, and proficiency of maintenance mechanics is maintained at a high level and meet the skill requirements needed to maximize equipment operational readiness. Ensure operator safety. This is achieved by continuous evaluation of skills, effective management of short and long term training schedule, periodic level of knowledge testing, and outsourcing training for new technologies. Responsible for approving hourly timecards on a weekly basis
  • Minimize maintenance and utility costs.
  • Work with EHS&S Coordinator to ensure facility Environmental, health, safety, and security are compliant. This is achieved by reviewing new process plans and coordinating with project engineers to determine equipment needs, layout, and operating procedures Maintain security and safety of all contractors. This is achieved by directing the activity of all outside contractors performing maintenance related activities on location and coordinating the identification of hazard report with all contractors.
  • Work with the EHS&S coordinator to ensure pollution control equipment and emissions are compliant with local, state, and federal laws. This is achieved by the effective administration installation, modification, testing, procedural compliance, inspection, and maintenance of pollution control equipment.
  • Ensures safe work environment. This is achieved by enforcing general safety policies and procedures to be followed by plant personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations, conferring with representatives of management to formulate safety policies, determining need for programs, and coordinating safety programs with plant activities.
Required Experience and Knowledge

 

  • Technical degree Required, Bachelors or Associates plus related experience
  • 6 to 9 years plus the education listed
  • Expert knowledge in Plant Engineering and Maintenance management.
  • Proven ability to manage schedule, resources, and budget.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the areas of mechanical and electrical systems, electronics, environmental health & safety, quality assurance, risk analysis, and engineering codes. 
  • Strong team leadership and building skills and ability to develop highly effective maintenance repair teams.
  • Excellent communication skills. Required to effectively communicate with company employees, contractors, and government officials.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • 0-20 Non-Exempt/Hourly
