Job Summary

In a context where flexibility and autonomy are paramount, we are looking for a versatile and strategic Buyer/Planner to join our team. Under the supervision of the Supply Chain Director, you will be responsible for managing the entire purchasing process, from supplier selection to receipt of goods, including negotiation. Your role will be key in optimizing our costs, ensuring the quality of our products, and ensuring the smooth running of our new product development projects.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Daily and Project Purchasing Management:
    • Ensure rigorous tracking of orders, from creation to receipt.
    • Manage a portfolio of key suppliers, optimizing business relationships.
    • Work closely with design teams to define needs and select suitable suppliers.
    • Proactively resolve supply chain issues.
    • Maintain up-to-date item and supplier data in the ERP system.
    • Plan customer orders.
  • Development of Purchasing Strategy:
    • Identify new opportunities for cost optimization and quality improvement.
    • Propose innovative solutions to address supply challenges.
    • Monitor performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of purchasing activities.
  • Use of IT Tools:
    • Experience using an ERP to manage purchasing data (Microsoft Dynamics is an asset).
    • Use the Office suite to perform analyses and reports in Excel.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

    •  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations and Production Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with the complete supply cycle (research, cost analysis, negotiation, sample purchasing, and quality control).
  • Written and verbal bilingualism (French and English) for communication with suppliers outside Quebec.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector (essential).
  • Experience working with various parts and materials (steel, aluminum, plastic, electrical/electronic components, etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing, logistics, planning, and material control functions.
  • Good knowledge of ERPs (Dynamics AX is an asset).
  • Good knowledge of Excel.
