Manager Customs Compliance Job

How you will contribute:

The MX Trade Compliance Manager will support the Global Trade Compliance Department’s goal to ensure that all Acuity Brands Lighting transactions comply with Customs and Trade regulations in Mexico.

Qualified Applicants will have:
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience within electronics, electrical and/or lighting manufacturing environment.
  • Expert in IMMEX A24 Management and A31 filing and full knowledge of Compliance requirements under this program.
  • Proficient in MX Harmonized Tariff Classification (HTS).
  • In Depth knowledge in Free Trade Agreements (FTA), especially the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
  • Broad comprehension of MX Customs regulations and those imposed by Other Government Agencies (OGA) such as steel certificates and import permits.
  • Expertise on Regla Octava, Prosec, and any other MX Government benefits for IMMEX Manufacturing programs.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, inventory cross referencing vs A24, capable of analysis and root cause determination for discharge (backflush) differences.
  • Audit of extracted data for A24 system
  • Knowledge of OEA /CTPAT benefits and obligations.
Additional Qualifications
  • Technical aptitude manipulating data using Excel, Access, ERP platform software and additional proprietary software systems, e.g. Integration Point.
  • Preferably experienced in successful interfacing between ERP systems and A24 softwares.
  • Multiple Virtual transactions, experience handling local VMIs under Virtual Pedimentos. Knowledge of regulation applicable for V5 Pedimentos.
  • Five or more years’ experience in the area of importation and exportation of raw materials, sub-assemblies and manufactured finished products.
  • Extensive experience working with SAT and negotiation with SAT issues around IMMEX administration and other Customs items.
  • Extensive experience working with cross border 3rd party warehouse and customs broker
  • IVA/IEPS Certification Compliance.
  • Experience with Oracle and Integration Point a plus.
  • Responsible for Monterrey (3 plants) and Matamoros (1 plant) Trade Compliance Team, leading a staff of  ~10 employees.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage the Trade Compliance team in Mexico to ensure compliance with SAT laws and regulations around imports, exports, C-TPAT, and IMMEX compliance
  • Monitor and supervise Customs brokers’ activities. Establish and /or follow process to audit pedimento data prior to filing and audit HTS classifications used by the broker to keep complianct.
  • Submaquila Reporting compliance.
  • Reports creation. Analyze and warrant area KPIs objectives.
  • Anexo 24 updating and management.
  • Solicit and manage NAFTA qualified certifications and Country of Origin (COO).
Responsibilities
  • Help determine the HTS of components and finished goods through research and consultation with Engineering and Sourcing.
  • Support management with the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and OEA programs overseeing the program and auditing the security standards of EH&S teams at the different plants.
  • Learn, understand and utilize Acuity Brands Lighting lean tool methodologies to continuously improve and sustain current processes.
  • Manage and audit scrap reporting
  • Manage and audit fixed asset tagging process.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required. International Business or Trade Compliance related.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • MX and/or US HTS Classification.
