About this Role:

The Senior Product Manager (Aculux) lights the way through their responsibility for all aspects of product life cycle management for an assigned product or collection of products, brand or set of brands, or vertical. This leader will own their business segment, work cross- functionally throughout the matrix, and drive strategic value to ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are driven through the group and organization. This role will drive accountability for all facets of product life cycle management, including understanding market demands, technology trends, and the competitive landscape. This role is responsible for managing the strategic product roadmap, development, and launch.  This person will lead through influence and collaboration with the appropriate partners on marketing and sales strategy. He/she must be highly creative and comfortable working with a wide degree of independence and latitude.  This person must be highly effective at relationship building and maintenance.  This role may require that the individual lead and direct the work of Associate Product Manager(s)/Product Managers and influence the work of other internal matrix partners or external business associates.  

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Set and execute the product strategy
  • Engage and support internal and external customers
  • Drive alignment within product portfolio and Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL) operations and strategy
  • Align product roadmap with business strategy and priorities
  • Gather inputs to assist in creation of strategy (i.e. situational analysis, market landscape, baseline for roadmap, etc.)
  • Implement the strategy to drive product decisions within group
  • Develop business cases
  • Establish and create customer experience matrix (CEM)
  • Participate in conceptual and detail design event (CDE/DDE)
  • Understanding the P&L and setting priorities for the team
  • Develop marketing and communications strategy for the product
  • Lead commercialization/validation of product and technology through supply chain
  • Lead post launch support efforts (training, etc.)
  • Phase in/ phase out (PIPO) decisions for all product development
  • Conduct sales and market trend analysis
  • Set price and manage margin based on market, trends, price bands, etc.


  • 6-8 years of experience in Product Management required
  • Experience in the Lighting industry is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Ability to work from the Des Plaines location is preferred - but will consider other geographies as well.
