Senior Electronics Engineer Job

About this Team

As a member of the electronics team you will:

Have responsibilities for electronics, driver and controls evaluation and development across all Acuity Architectural brands.

How you will contribute:

Your duties and responsibilites may include:
Research, develop, design, or specify various SSL components, sub-systems and systems such as LED driver, lighting controls devices, battery back up and other electronics.
Own electronics building block design work, prototyping, and qualify them through validation process.
Validation and interoperability testing and process optimization.
Perform evaluations on prototypes, competitive products and spot testing of manufactured products or components.
Apply quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and propose, develop and implement solutions for corrective action.
Provide direction for fixture level controls integration and optimize the RF or other elements of the lighting controls system for best performance.
Ensure new and sustaining products meet or exceed the product specifications while adhering to product and project cost targets.

Qualified Applicants will have:

In this role you will need:

  • At least 5 years of relevant design experience
  • Hands on design and evaluation experience in  LED driver (AC-DC, DC-DC). Understanding and hands on experience on different power conversion topologies such as Flyback, Boost, Buck, Buck-boost, full-bridge , half-bridge
  • Power electronics and understanding of LED drive modes  such as PWM, CV, CCR, and hybrid 
  • Component, sub-system and system level EMI and EMC compliancy and trouble shooting experience
  • Mixed signal circuit simulation and design understanding.
  • Firmware development experience with C/C++ or other 
  • Basic LabVIEW experience

Preferred, but not required:

  • Well versed in driver and control systems compatibility issues. Understanding of different dimmer topologies and architectures such as: forward phase, reverse phase, fluorescent 3wire, Dali, DMX, 0-10V, PWM, ZigBee and BLE Mesh.
  • Schematics capture and PCB layout( R&D and production grade PCB layout and documentation)
  • Basic  CAD software (Solid works, ProE)
  • Basic SSL regulatory and safety standard understanding. Such as FCC15, UL, Energy star, CEC, DLC, Title-24, LM80, LM79
