About this role:

The Product Manager lights the way in many supporting aspects of product life cycle management, whether for an assigned product or in learning market demands, technology trends and the competitive field. While this role does not manage one specific product line, this role will help the team develop the strategic product roadmap and help develop and launch new/upgraded products. This person becomes familiar from experience with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. In this role, you will gain experience and insight from leadership in order to plan and accomplish goals. You must be willing to build effective relationships to influence others internally and externally. This person must have strong organizational skills upon start of role. You will develop analytical and creative problem-solving skills in this role for sound decisions. You will gain exposure with presentations alongside your manager to gain credibility over time with matrix partners and customers. The Product Manager seeks a continuous improvement mindset (ABS mentality) in all aspects of daily and project.

We are looking for someone who lives in the Chicago or Atlanta area, so that you would be able to go into our Des Plaines or Decatur facilities when necessary.

About this team:

This role is within the architectural downlight and track organization consisting of several world class brands including Lithonia, Gotham, Juno, Indy, and Aculux.  You will get to engage and collaborate with a talented product management team to develop and execute the business strategy for architectural downlight and track business.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Support the achievement of business goals and key performance indicators (KPI); includes being accountable for assigned measurements quality, delivery, cost, inventory (QDCI). 
  • Engage and support internal and external customers alongside Manager
  • Assist in the collection of inputs for strategy creation (i.e. situational analysis (market landscape), baseline for roadmap, etc.)
  • Implement administrative activities within the product development system (PDS), including but not limited to scheduling weekly meetings and completing the PDS deliverable checklist
  • Understand and support Manager in price setting and managing margin based on market, trends, price bands, etc.
  • Audit the phase in/phase out (PIPO) decisions for all product development. 
  • Assist with focus factory engagement (PIPO, capacity analysis, inventory mgmt, etc.)
  • Assist product and technical training for internal and external teams

Requirements of the role:

  • 2-5  years of experience required. 
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
  • Lighting industry experience preferred
