About this role:

The Senior Product Category Manager lights the way and champions the ideal product portfolio strategy across various product groups and in alignment with Customer Product Line Reviews, meetings, and assortment changes to maximize profitable sales growth in stock products across all channels. This role strategically drives impact to the business as it applies to product mix, market level pricing, and product gap assessment and prioritization. The Senior Product Category Manager serves as an omni-channel consultant and change agent within the business units and incorporates continuous improvement in every responsibility to help raise the bar in connectivity and service for our customers.

How you will contribute:

 

P&L Management (50%)

  • Drive the Product Portfolio strategy for the retail channels to enable profitable sales growth
  • Determine competitive threats within the retail channel and identify opportunities for growth. Maintain comprehensive comp-shop of top Home Center competitive offerings. Guide the Product Teams to address gaps in product, price and margin through new product development, sourcing, and cost-out initiatives
  • Utilize internal and external data to determine growth opportunities including SKU rationalization, assortment changes, promotions, cost-out opportunities, and gap-closing NPD with PVS
  • Drive Acuity Brands Lighting (ABL) Demand Generation team to support a superior in-store and on-line customer experience consisting of consistent packaging, effective merchandising, and on-line content to enable profitable growth in the retail channels
     

Life-Cycle Management (30%)

  • Conduct ongoing analysis of market trends, competitor products and programs, and customer segments to ensure the Product Portfolio is market-leading in technology and offering to drive to the company's strategic objectives
  • Conduct Portfolio Reviews to ensure all SKUs are meeting Sales requirements to ensure the Portfolio is maximized for customer value
  • Support and assist the Value Stream Product Managers in gathering intel used to develop business cases for the product roadmaps
     

Portfolio Maintenance (20%)

  • Facilitate process improvement opportunities as it pertains to competitive comparisons and cross references, sales enablement tools across all channels including literature, website copy, merchandising, signage, and Portfolio slide decks 
  • Utilize Acuity Business System (ABS) tools to solve business problems and improve processes

Qualified Applicants will have:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum six years of applicable work experience, including Retail Channel experience required; Commercial and/or Residential Lighting or Electrical Industry experience preferred
  • Project Management: Demonstrates ability to create project vision and goals, as well as achieve goals and meet successful criteria
  • Product Development: Solid understanding of product line design, development, and launch of multiple products
  • Data Aggregation & Reporting: Demonstrates ability to learn, retain, communicate product information
  • Market Assessment & Analytics: Demonstrates ability to evaluate and develop competitive landscape, current offering, product roadmap, product families, and life cycle management
  • Customer Engagement: Able to engage with matrix partners and external customers efficiently to drive results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power Point software
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time as needed; able to lift up to 25 lbs.
