Responsible for product development from concept through production, which includes new product, sustaining and resolution of field problems. Leads electro-mechanical product design and/or redesign, part assembly and detailed part drawings. Leads prototyping, testing, and assembly of samples. Leads various Product Design/development projects and teams. Must be able to collaborate with and influence all cross functional members of the design team. Must be able to present and communicate project status updates to senior management. Conducts daily management meetings with the cross-functional team. Mentors and develops other engineers.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 3-5+ years of experience in Power Electronics industry
  • Familiar with stage tollgate product development process
  • Highly motivated, self-reliant and goal-driven to participate as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Strong, demonstrated, electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills  
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization and facilitation skills  
  • Knowledge of industry trends and standards
Job Responsibilities
  • Leads team meetings using the product delivery system (stage gate product development) for each major product.
  • Teaches/supports ABS/Lean Transformation by actively participating on, or leading, Kaizen teams and leading the completion of post-Kaizen activity.
  • Leads various aspects of the design process including the development of part geometry, assembly design and drawing generation. Develops, distributes, and approves engineering data. Manage collaboration with vendor partners.
  • Manages relationships with internal manufacturing facilities and external vendors to resolve issues, deviation requests and bill of material errors, and schedule and conduct pilot/pre-production runs, tool run-offs and plan for production release.
  • Champions and schedules concept development by initiating and developing concepts for new products. Ensures all concepts are agreeable with standard manufacturing methods utilized in the appropriate manufacturing facility.
  • Continuously looks to improve processes related to productivity, quality, purchasing and manufacturing. Looks for advancements or changes in technology via tradeshows, technology councils, vendors or other methods.
  • Submits test requests and works directly with the testing group. Submits prototyping requests and works directly with the model shop on prototypes and assembly of samples. Reviews functional specifications, project charters and competitors samples.
