Sourcing Manager Lead - Purchased Finished Goods

Position Summary & Location

This person will be responsible for establishing and executing the global sourcing strategy related to outsourced manufacturing, to attain maximum contribution to operating profit and business objectives. Sourcing Manager Lead will utilize World Class Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Lean methodology to obtain maximum total value from the supply base. As this role interfaces with many facets of Acuity Brands management, such as engineering, marketing, national accounts, customer care, manufacturing facilities, material control, post sales service and ASO (Asian Sourcing Office), this person will need to be able to effectively collaborate cross-matrix relationships. This role will lead our outsourced manufacturing procured material (PFG)and near-shoring opportunities and be responsible for ensuring supply across multiple distribution centers and factories.

This U.S. based position works remotely. 

Primary Responsibilities Include

• Coordinating staff of supply chain professionals in their category management to assure that significant opportunities are being addressed to our customers' satisfaction.
• Providing our primary customer, the distribution centers, with sources who provide a continuous supply of acceptable material at a competitive-plus cost to satisfy the facility's stocking plan. 
• Developing, maintaining, and communicating an educated opinion on current and future market conditions relative to price, availability, "best in class" suppliers and innovative technology to assure continuity of supply as well as informed customers. 
• Maintaining and communicating a current sourcing strategy, considering inputs from our customers, for each major sub-category with purchased finished goods.
• Identifying opportunities to diversify supplier support geographically for optimized supply chain solutions and geopolitical risk mitigation.
• Identifying and developing alternate sources of supply to create competitive tension amongst suppliers.
• Partnering with internal operations to support make/buy decisions and determine best manufacturing location to support Acuity operations strategy and competitive environment
• Negotiating and obtaining a signed mid-form agreement from suppliers to help minimize Acuity liability exposure.
• Compiling and maintaining a country-of-origin record for each purchased part.
• Developing and communicating sourcing strategy to appropriate personnel within the company.
• Identifying the preferred supplier parts so that new fixtures BOM's are constructed correctly.
• Driving best-in-class contract manufacturing strategy that ensures competitive offerings while complying with Acuity specifications, both design and quality.

Qualifications  

• Must have 5+ years of experience in buying or sourcing positions.
• Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain or Engineering is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Proficient Mandarin is highly preferred.
• Previous experience in negotiation of finished good electronic contracts
• Expertise in the art of negotiation, leadership, and strategic thinking
• Strong written and verbal communication as well as organizational skills
• Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and tools
