Senior Manager, Compensation

Acuity Brands Lighting has an immediate need for a Senior Manager, Compensation reporting to the VP of Total Rewards. This role will lead the overall design, management, implementation, communication, compliance and administration of compensation programs Enterprise-wide. This role will partner with the VP of Total Rewards to build the appropriate compensation philosophy and strategy and will have extensive knowledge of HRIS systems in order to use data to help drive decision-making and business results. This will include researching best practices to ensure pay philosophies align to competitive market trends, managing program compliance, and leveraging our HR systems to produce insightful reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Compensation function with the ability to design, implement, communicate and administer hourly, salaried and executive compensation programs
  • Design, evaluate, and revise base pay, short term and/or long-term incentive plans as needed
  • Evaluate Acuity Brands competitive pay position and maintain pay structures and job architecture based on the methodology used for job evaluations and leveling
  • Identify and recommend strategies to improve the company’s recruiting and retention efforts
  • Ensure that all plans comply with federal, state and local laws
  • Conduct analyses to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of the organization's compensation practices.
  • Develop and maintain compensation guidelines, manager tools and education materials in support of the compensation programs and administration
  • Partner closely with human resource busines partners on providing support and solutions for business needs
  • Advise human resource business partners on appropriate leveling and/or compensation for positions throughout the organization.
  • Partner with IT to build, maintain and leverage the HRIS compensation modules in order to produce data analytics for improved decision making and efficient administration of compensation programs

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree required
  • 7+ years of experience in compensation.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems required; SuccessFactors knowledge a plus
  • Ability to  keep current on compensation trends and legislative changes.
  • Broad understanding of management styles, legal, and employment issues
  • Consultative approach to internal discussions with a mindset toward solutioning in partnership with the human resource business partners and business leaders
  • Strong Business acumen and understanding of business operations with a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data and analytics into insights, recommendations and/or solutions for the business
  • Experience in successfully working in multiple organizational structures, including a matrix environment
  • Credibility to lead and influence leaders at the executive level and work collaboratively globally
  • Interpersonal relationship skills, along with a proven ability to lead others and uncompromising integrity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel approx. 20%
