Electronics SMT Technician Job

About this Location

The Sr. Laboratory Technician is responsible for construction of prototype circuits/controls (PCB Electronics Manufacturing), inspect and rework electronic circuits, operate  debug and set up  SMT Machines, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance of the equipment. This position is part of Acuity Brands' larger Advanced Manufuacturing team based in our state of the art SMT Lab in Conyers, Georgia. 

Qualified Applicants will have:

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the processes to manufacture and deliver prototypes with quality and in time to Design groups. These processes include: Paste printing parameters, SMT programs, reflow profiles, EBOM validations, Tooling creation, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with design groups and Manufacturing sites in regards of requirements and results of the prototype builds, self-driving
  • Perform engineering design validation for manufacturing point of view.  Report results to the project team.  Construct testers/fixtures as required to complete design validation. 
  • Keep control of all the programs, documentations, Test log created from the Prototype run and validation.  
  • Attend training sessions, meetings, technical presentations to remain up-to-date with latest techniques, procedures and/or company policies.   Conduct on-job-training to newly hired or appointed employees.  Cross train with employees specializing in other facets of laboratory operations
  • Troubleshoot failures/issues from prototype. Report findings/recommendations to the designer(s).  
  • Maintain engineering data from prototype and design validation 
  • Maintain  equipment and supplies in clean, reliable condition.  Minimize cost of  operations by being proactive in suggesting new, innovative means to achieve a specific company goal
  • Cross train with employees specializing in other facets of laboratory operations
  • Perform the machine Corrective  and Preventing Maintenance
  • Perform projects or activites assigned by Focus Factory Manager

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in electronic controls Manufacturing - development and knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering principles 
  • Surface Mount Machine Programming and Maintenance K&S,  Universal or similar
  • Knowledge of IPC Standards, or IPC Certification preferred (for manufacturing in electronics) 
  • Ability to understand and use various lab equipment (including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, data acquisition devices, frequency generators and others as needed) required in troubleshooting and testing electronic controls (preferred).  
  • Project and personnel manamgement

Education and Experience:

  • 2-3 years of working experience in Electronics 
  • Technical or Associates Degree in Electronics or above
  • PMP Certification a plus
