Job Description

The Senior Director-ABS, drives a culture of business excellence by providing strategic alignment and tactical insight, utilizing a practical set of tools aimed to ensure organizational health and long-term sustainability of our business.

 

This role will partner with business leaders to advise on and integrate focused improvement efforts on enterprise level business processes and process constraints, while providing expert consultation to develop a road map/framework for process improvement, tools, and standardization, and change management.

 

Responsible for building and maintaining a culture of continuous enterprise improvement that permeates the entire organization, this role will be instrumental in supporting the digital transformation, growing the business, developing the customer mindset in our associates, and changing the culture. This role will take a leadership role in developing the Better Smarter Faster framework to support Acuity’s digital transformation.

 

This role has direct reports.

Your Role

You will quickly be positioned to make an impact across the company based on knowledge of the business and the ability to build early trust and credibility. Creating/building a close partnership with business leaders and teams will be critical very early in the process. You will be well versed in Continuous Improvement methodologies and all aspects of process improvement, exhibit a project management skillset, have experience managing change in a complex environment, and be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization (senior leader to front line associate alike).

 

This role will have high visibility to senior leadership at the Corporate levels and will be expected to establish reporting and lead frequently scheduled out briefs/meetings for guidance, key decisions, and progress updates.

How you will contribute:

What you will do:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison that will partner with business leaders and teams to lead initiatives, resulting in improvement design for the long-term.
  • Leverage your sound leadership to collaborate with, and provide recommendations to, Executive leadership and the business on aligning process improvements, building out a road map/value stream map/plan for future improvements, measuring program or initiative success, and adjusting efforts to address future needs.
  • Utilize strong Continuous Improvement and project planning skills to identify opportunities, capture data, analyze root cause, scope efforts, resourcing, scheduling, and budgeting to deploy effective programs/process improvements that ensure improved organizational performance.
  • Advise and influence senior leaders on business transformation topics that include organizational effectiveness, performance results, and change management in terms of complexity, impact to the business and staffing.
  • Effectively navigate through change and ambiguity within an organization and the position. Work effectively in a complex environment involving rapidly changing priorities while driving transformational change.
  • Communicate effectively by engaging and leading discussions at a strategic level and able to work tactically to capture stakeholder feedback, host workshops, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with Executive leaders and business leaders for awareness and planning. Ensure collaboration within the business and support functions to address all points of integration, handoffs, solutions and plans for implementation. Specifically, partner and collaborate with ABL Tech to ensure alignment and continuity in all initiative work and enhancement/smaller projects with a technology focus.
  • Effectively lead, manage, develop, coach, and evaluate team members and associates at various levels of experience. Effectively synthesize information from business leaders to direct reports for action.
  • Continuously evaluate and measure program or initiative performance and progress against goals and serve as a change agent within the organization.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA a plus), relevant certifications and/or professional training programs.
  • 10 years’ experience in leading an organization through change initiatives; enterprise change management and/or enterprise process improvement.
  • Experience with managing/influencing senior leaders and teams through business process changes and/or large transformational work.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage differing points of view. Ability to effectively manage conflict and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of process improvement and project management principles, methodologies, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of digital transformation in a traditional manufacturing environment or a non-tech environment
  • Customer mindset; experience driving improvement through the lens of the customer perspective
  • Familiarity with the Agile methodology/principles and the ability to apply them
  • Strong presentation skills coupled with Microsoft Office skill
  • Ability to think strategically, to influence others to think “big picture”, and translate that into a plan for action in alignment with the following:
