About this Team

 

The primary role of the QA Lead is to advise on all aspects of Quality Assurance ("QA") including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met. The QA Lead is expected to develop, plan, execute, and maintain test cases, test scripts, test plans and protocols for products under development. The QA Lead collaborates effectively with management and decision makers to develop strategic relationships. 

 

How you will contribute:

 

  • Establish and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using best practices 
  • Identify opportunities for test process improvements; look for continuous improvement that delivers value for the external customer 
  • Lead, collaborate, and mentor QA team members; share domain knowledge with the rest of the team to continually expand the overall group capabilities and inspire innovation 
  • Work with peer QA Leads to ensure effective implementation and usage of Test Management processes and tools for all assignments 
  • Guide testing resources in successfully completing the development and execution of detailed test cases/scripts 
  • Collaborate effectively with management and decision makers; develop long term strategic relationships 
  • Solid understanding of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, and the software development lifecycle 
  • Ability to work with all members of the development team to design optimal testing goals and requirements 
  • Serve as the “quality advocate” for the Quality Assurance team 
  • Actively participates in team meetings to offer insight on application issues discovered and present solutions to resolve, meet requirements, and ensure desired quality 
  • Plays vital role during Sprint Planning by providing testing insight and QA estimates for each Product Backlog Item (PBI) reviewed 
  • Design and execute test plans, test cases, scenarios, and scripts 
  • Document software defects, using defect tracking system, and report defects to software developers 
  • Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates 
  • Use of Scrum methodology and participation in all phases of the iterative process 
  • Monitor defect resolution efforts and track successes 
  • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, GUI, or content 
  • Define test parameters, design tests, interpret test results, and analyze test trends 
  • Assist in the installs/deployments of all product releases and bug fixes 
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of production related issues 
     

Qualified Applicants will have:

 

  • Skilled at evaluating existing processes and procedures and making recommendations for improvement; designing prototypes and proof of concepts  
  • Hands-on experience with test cast management tools and frameworks 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills from a business and systems perspective 
  • Highly self-motivated and directed leader 
  • Ability to self-direct effectively prioritize tasks, multi-task, and meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment 
  • Ability to facilitate open discussion and construct debate 
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and the understanding of how to find flaws in complex software 
  • Experience testing GUI and functional user workflow – not just a button pusher 
  • Strong analytical capabilities and data analysis techniques 
  • Strong commitment to quality and ability to work closely and communicate effectively with all levels of the ABL Tech Organization 
  • Experience successfully applying Agile/Scrum methodology to develop and execute software test plans including continuous integration and test-driven development 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred  
  • Must have strong technical skills, such as an ability to understand basic SQL syntax for checking results in a database or editing XML configuration files. 
  • Experience in business requirements analysis and test case design using test case management tools 
  • Experience in Software Development and/or Quality Assurance
