Job Summary

Acuity Brands has an immediate opening for a Director of Communications reporting to the Senior Vice President. The Director of Corporate Communications will help us share how we are using technology to solve problems in spaces, light, and future things to come. We are seeking a talented individual who likes to build, create, and deliver on the art of the possible.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop communications strategy to drive awareness of Acuity Brand and engagement with our external audiences.
  • Lead media relations and thought leadership for Acuity Brands.
  • Partner with Investor Relations and Corporate Sustainability teams to lead external communications surrounding our quarterly earnings report, annual reports, and commitments to corporate citizenship.
  • Develop strategies and implement communications plans and messaging in response to issues and crisis management.
  • Develop and manage corporate community relations.
  • Write and edit press releases, articles, media statements and other materials to support communications strategies.
  • Manage storytelling and content for our corporate website.

Qualified Applicants Will Have

  • Proven track record of increasing brand visibility and reputation.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and drive end-to-end communications from conception through implementation.
  • Experience working directly with C-level executives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Thorough, detail-oriented project management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, influencing and relationship skills, including appreciation and understanding of cultural differences globally.
  • Ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
  • Will have a strong sense of urgency and the ability to infuse that in others.
  • Analytical mindset with focus on measuring communications effectiveness and results.

  • Ability to develop strategic, comprehensive communication plans.
  • Ability to translate complex information into consumable content for broad internal audiences.
  • Experience leading, directing, and managing proactive media strategy and launches.
  • Experience coaching and developing direct reports.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in corporate communication within a corporate environment.
