Job Summary

 

This position is for Data Advisor for the Data Excellence team. A Data Excellence Advisor role focuses on guiding Acuity in leveraging data assets effectively to achieve business goals. This role combines strategic insight, technical expertise, and business acumen to provide advice on data management, analytics, governance, and overall data strategy.   The Data Excellence Advisor plays a crucial role in helping Acuity harness the full potential of our data.  By providing strategic guidance, ensuring data quality and governance, and promoting a data-driven culture, they enable Acuity to make informed decisions, optimize operations, and achieve strategic objectives. You will also partner with cross-functional teams of product managers, engineers, UX designers, and data scientists to identify opportunities, define requirements, and deliver features that will help Acuity Brands.

 

 

Success in this role requires a unique combination of skills and character traits which include:

  • Onboarding business & tech partners on the Data Excellence journey (Data Discovery, Process, Data Mapping & Governance)
  • Consults and guide the business & tech partners on identifying data needs, understanding enterprise data flow and how it impacts end-user satisfaction
  • Educate end-users on Data Excellence (Coaching, MOS, Data Catalog Admin, Metrics, Communication, Policies, etc)
  • Drive data insights, harvest value of data, and provide support on the high-level enterprise data questions
  • Fill the gaps when connecting business & tech around data needs, guidance, and governance
  • The ability to holistically view and understand Acuity’s ecosystems and focus on delivering technology that drives impact

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

 

  • As a Data Excellence Advisor, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective management of data assets, quality, and digital compliance
  • You will assist in supporting the implementation of data governance processes, conducting data analysis, and supporting data governance activities throughout the organization while overseeing the digital compliance process
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and document data definitions, data standards, and data classification rules for automotive data domains such as marketing, sales, finance, vehicle parts, customer, and supply chain data, etc.,
  • Work closely with IT teams and business partners to document data flows, data sources, and data lineage to ensure transparency and accuracy of data throughout its lifecycle
  • Support the data governance team in conducting data profiling and quality assessments to identify data issues, anomalies, and areas for improvement
  • Implement practices and processes to standardize and automate the management and use of data within an organization
  • Assist in implementing data governance processes, policies, such as data cataloging, metadata management, and data quality management solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Participate in data governance committee meetings, capturing meeting minutes, tracking action items, and assisting in preparing governance reports and presentations
  • Act with broad scope, autonomy, and a focus on delivering impact and outcomes
  • Operate effectively in an all-remote environment with up to 10% travel as needed

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

 

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, marketing, engineering, or computer science -- a master's degree (e.g., MBA) can be beneficial
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in data governance, data catalogs, data analysis, or a related role, preferably within the Lighting industry preferably
  • Experience with Data Governance Framework roll-out, implementation & adoption
  • Experience with data management
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing technology strategy, using data and analysis to support strategy and prioritization, and day to day product execution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work well with highly cross-functional teams
  • Data driven mindset, which includes analytical skills to analyze data, market trends, and product performance throughout the lifecycle to make informed decisions
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal forms
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines

Preferred Skills and Experience

 

  • MBA with technical orientation or Industrial and Systems Engineering with a digital product management orientation
  • Financial certifications

The range for this position is $112,200.00 to $252,200.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
