Main Responsibilities / Objectives of the Role
Product Quality Tasks
- Monitor the expected quality level of assembled products in production (Production Quality KPIs)
- Contribute to achieving the PPM (Parts Per Million) objective for the production workshop through relevant preventive, corrective, and curative actions in collaboration with stakeholders
- Ensure and propose solutions for internal Non-Conformities
- Adequately address quality issues using standard tools (5M Analysis, 5 Whys, QQOQCCP, PDCA, SIPOC, DMAIC, 8D, etc.)
- Know, verify, and ensure the application of required product standards and norms by Distech, both internally and at suppliers (IPC, CE, UL, etc.)
- Be responsible for the IT tracking of non-conforming materials and products (towards quarantine and/or scrap)
- Perform appropriate material and product inspections (incoming, in-process, and final) according to established frequencies and scope
- Provide support to operations (particularly Production and Logistics)
- Process all non-conforming or suspect products according to established processes and immediately report potentially harmful situations for Distech to the Product Quality Manager.
Product Reliability Tasks
- Support the responsible person for the product aging test process (THB) to ensure their completion according to the test schedule
- Contribute to and maintain the quality level of raw materials (Monitoring Non-Conformities and Supplier Quality Cases)
- Participate in improving the quality level of suppliers (document support, opportunities, non-conformities, etc.)
- Interact with various quality functions (product, system, Supplier Quality Assurance) to identify improvement opportunities, quality trends, or quality issues
Main Internal / External Relationships
Internal: Production / Quality / RMA / Continuous Improvement / Logistics / Others (Customer Service, R&D, QHSE…)
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Product Quality
- Ensure the expected quality level in production through continuous analysis of defects
- Train and raise awareness among operators about quality
- In the case of defects, support the root cause analysis, define action plans, and ensure their execution
- Keep the list of incoming inspections up to date
- Perform incoming inspections upon receipt (Functional, Dimensional, Visual inspections)
- Ensure traceability of products
- Initiate non-conformities at incoming, in-process, and final inspection stages
- Participate in creating documents supporting the Quality process
- Provide the Quality portion for weekly briefings with production (defects database, information, awareness, etc.)
Product Reliability
- Participate as needed in the product aging test process (assembly, supporting documentation)
- Actively contribute to resolving quality issues by securing stock, customer shipments, and ensuring the compliance of future production batches
Other
- Ensure the quality level validated by the hierarchical manager (measured in ppm) in production
- Ensure consistency between physical and IT tracking of materials
- Ensure compliance with deadlines
- Report anomalies and non-conformities
Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- Degree in electronics or 5 years of operational quality experience in an industrial environment (Quality Controller, Quality Assistant, Product Auditor…) or equivalent based on experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Good technical English skills, Spanish is a plus
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to manage priorities
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of electronic products, their features, and specifications
- Customer satisfaction orientation
- Familiar with Quality principles, culture, and tools (QQOQCCP, 5 Whys, 8D, FMEA, PDCA…)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 5 years of experience in an industrial company, ideally in the electronics sector.
- IPC-A-610 Certification
