What will be your role?

We are presently recruiting for an Estimator who will work in collaboration with the Operations & Account Management teams. You will be responsible to develop cost estimates for materials and labor based on conceptual or detailed job designs and specifications. You will assist the Sales, Operations & Account Management team with the development of proposals for large and/or multi-site building automation projects.  You will work with sales, operations, and engineering teams, and at times with customers to understand and/or develop the scope of work that will be awarded.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for delivering a high level of consistency in estimating and conceptual project design and layout of our Strategic Account Customer projects.

 

What will you do?

  • Leads or supports detailed estimating of projects. Validates assumptions made during project design or proposal phase. Builds a detailed cost estimate and scope of work for assigned projects in conjunction with Sales, Operations, and Account Management Team.
  • Utilizes / develops specialized functional expertise as a project development team member.
  • Assists in preparing proposals and other customer communication documents.
  • Performs detailed estimating analysis to quantify cost savings or other cost benefits.
  • Identify risk areas in the project installation design or project specifications to sales and/ or operations.
  • Performs on-site data collection at customer facilities where required to perform estimating detailed development tasks.
  • Assist team with sourcing and evaluating pricing for electrical and other subcontractors as well as sourcing of equipment from 3rd party vendors/suppliers.
  • Assists in presentations of proposals as required.
  • Participates in turnover meetings with Operations and Engineering to ensure project scope and objectives, timeline and customer requirements are properly understood.
     
     
    Which candidate profile are we looking for?
  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in building automation, building systems and/or HVAC field. Entry level function-specific licenses or certifications preferred (e.g., Fundamental of Engineering Certification for Engineering related roles, etc.)..
  • Have a good understanding of Building Automation Systems and HVAC systems.  Knowledge of lighting, fire, lift and security systems a plus.
  • Possess strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage tasks associated with development of projects. Fully competent in analysis and assessment of facility systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including an excellent understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • Works effectively in team settings and displays leadership. Has good written and verbal communication skills and is comfortable working in customer-facing situations.
  • Knowledge of building, electrical and mechanical codes, standards and regulations.
  • Keeps abreast of all relevant developments and innovations in the Building Automation field including best practice methodologies.
  • Self-direction in identifying and suggesting training opportunities.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
