R&D Lead Engineer

Job Summary
This person will be responsible to:
- Support the new product development, starting from concept to concluded in production for OT Drivers,
- Generate new concepts and theories applicable to the driver performance, cost, manufacturability, etc. that give a competitive advantage to the company on the market
- Generate new topologies and solutions, document and train the team with them
- Mentor early career design engineers (Jr / Design Engineers)
- Participate on sustaining and resolution of field problems to generate knowledge to prevent the recurrence.
- Update the design guidelines with the new developments and lesson learn from field failures.
- The role requires this person to lead prototyping, testing, and verification of samples and lead various Product Design/development projects.
- Proficient interaction with other Design Center and Specialist on the different company Sites
- Able also to collaborate with cross-functional members of the design team locally and externally
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Leads various aspects of the design process including, but not limited to, the development of new knowledge, Hardware design development. Design work varies from new product development to product enhancements and cost reduction activities.

Discuss and get agreements with other specialist about the technology roadmap for the new products (Regional/Business unit).

Product design and development of LED Drivers, including product definition, parts selection and qualification.

Generation of engineering documentation including specification, schematics, layouts, BOM and quality reports.

Perform all qualification tests to ensure new drivers meet electrical, Thermal, EMI, mechanical and environmental requirements.

Actively participates in, or lead, team meetings using the product delivery system (stage gate product development) for each major product.

Follow the instructions and procedures applicable to the ISO 14000 systems
Education (minimum education required)
Experience (minimum experience required)
6 to 9 years as Senor Design Engineer or 1 to 3 years in a similar role

Preferred Experience (i.e. industry experience)
- High Expertise level and experience on power electronics circuits
- Boost, Buck, Flyback Topologies
- LLC, LCC and resonant topologies
- Linear regulators
- Transient protection circuits
- EMI filter design
- Deep PCB design knowledge, electrical, standards and manufacturing rules
- Design Procedure Guideline creation for different topologies
- Electronic component selection
- Lifetime for electronic SMPS calculation
- Electrical simulation experience (Pspice / LTSpice)
- Thermal basics for simulation
- Microcontroller programming skills and experience
- Cortex M0 microcontrollers (32bits)
- 8 Bits microcontroller
- C/C++ and assembler knowledge
- Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, AC/DC power supplies
- Knowledge on UL standards and testing, applicable to LED drivers and lighting
