Job Summary

We are establishing a new role within our organization and seeking an innovative Director of Quality to drive the quality strategy and vision cross-functionally. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, you will serve as a center of excellence within the company, providing strategic guidance, expertise and leadership in quality management practices. 
 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Governance

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance strategy aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices. 
  • Build and lead a high performing team focused on maintaining the organization’s excellent reputation. 
  • Provide training and support to employees at all levels to promote a culture of quality and excellence. 

Processes, Metrics and Analytics

  • Leverage industry-standard quality planning frameworks such as APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) to ensure that quality is built into the product development process from inception to production.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce defects, and optimize product quality. Utilize data analysis and quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions. Apply methodologies such as PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to systematically identify and address potential failure modes in processes and designs, ensuring robustness and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Implement relevant key performance indicators, including cost of poor-quality metrics. Provide visibility at all levels on performance and deviations.
  • Provide expertise in regulatory compliance to ensure alignment with relevant standards and requirements. Oversee product certification processes. Stay abreast of relevant regulations, standards and compliance requirements in our industry and across our international markets. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with other departments, including engineering, production, and production engineering, to address quality-related issues and drive cross-functional collaboration. Serve as a subject matter expert on quality assurance matters.
  • In collaboration with the strategic sourcing team, develop the supplier strategies, audits and monitoring tools to increase incoming quality. Implement a preventative and corrective measure program, to manage deviations. 

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering or related field. 
  • Ten (10) years of experience in quality management, with a minimum of five (5) in a leadership role. 
  • Expertise in Electronics 
  • Proven experience working with contract manufacturers. Advanced understanding of manufacturing operations/processes.
  • Deep understanding of quality management systems, methodologies and tools (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA) with a focus on their application in electronics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of standards such as CEM, UL, CE, FCC
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
